Guess I didn't inform everyone that I was going to meet my boyfriend's family down there for a week; we just got back last night. There were long, lazy days lolling about
in rivers in San Marcos, a couple days on the Galveston coast (where we caught shrimp, redfish, and a shark with regular ol' fishing poles in the surf outside the beach house we stayed in), and bubbling away in the 90-degree heat in Austin. Met the parents, siblings, and friends; all went swimmingly. Could definitely picture these people as in-laws
. Overall, the trip was phenomenal, mostly...unfortunately, lliterally my first HOUR in Texas, as we walked down some steps to a restaurant, I executed a most clumsy tumble, rolling my left ankle over about
120 degrees. Tried to laugh it off for a few hours until I couldn't walk anymore. I ended up in the emergency room for x-rays on my rapid swelling limb (no breaks), then proceeded to get a migraine and started vomiting all over the exam room, and left at 4 a.m. pumped full of Demerol and phenergan. The ankle swelled to twice its normal size and got so black and blue I looked like a rodeo rider who'd been stepped on by a 10-ton bull. I was absolutely mortified. But we prevailed nonetheless.
The leg still looks pretty sickening; I have a feeling this one's going to take a while to recover from. Never had a sprain quite like this before. I am bummed - I was starting to run again, and felt great about it.
AT LEAST, for goodness' sake, the diarrhea posed very few problems!
