anyway to stop c-dif naturally w/o flagyl? this is the 4th time now

every time i take a AX i get c-dif. it never stops. now this is the 4th time in 1.5 yrs i have to take the flagyl and i am sick to death of it.

i took acidopholis pearls three tiems a day while on the ax and it  did not help me.

i want to know what can i take w/o this flagyl stufff to get rid of this c-dif. this is the only time i have this is when i take aX.

after i take the f- i usually end up taking difulcan b/c of yeast over growth it is a merry go round wit hthis dam drugs. it makes me not to want to ever go outside to catch something in order for me to take  an ax, this last time was for sinus infection...i know this is whati have. i was tested for illac sprue and i do not have that.

it only acts up when i take an ax  never anyother time unless i eat spicey foods. i am on norco and xanax and zantac for gerd 75 mg  twice a day.

the stool is long stringy and forest green so i know it is bile.

it is not black tarry stools and i am not throwing.

it is not bloody.

it is not painful just annoying and inconvienent. i tried to eat rice and banans and stuff to slow the D down  and it worked but  srtool is very smelly which tells me taht it is c-dif as  i had this before , it is another docs trip and more moneyi see him more than i see my  own husband

  also i am more sensitve to it b/c i have Psa psoritiac arthritis which affectsthe gut also, i am so sick of this any ideas how i can cure this myself???????????

What exactly is AX? As far as I am aware, there is nothing but a strong antibiotic that will get rid of c. difficile. But it can be really hard to get rid of, so maybe you've never been rid of it, but this other stuff you're taking just makes what you have flare up worse. There's also a super-strain out there right now that is antibiotic resistant. I saw an article on it on MSN (I posted it on here, but that was some months ago).

Also, c. difficile spreads via spores on toliet seats. You can reinfect yourself if you don't keep your toliet seats at home cleaned off. The only thing that will kill the spores is bleach; antibacteiral cleaners do NOT work. Get some of those new bleach wipes to keep by the toliet and always wipe the seat down after you use it. You might want to get a bleach tab for your toliet bowl (the ones that go in your toliet tank, though, can eat up the rubber gaskets in your tank).

Have you tried any other probiotic besides acidophillus? That's only one strain, so that might not be enough. Digestive Advantage and Culturelle both have many different types of good bacteria in them and are supposed to be more potent.

thanks keri-the AX i was on was  omnicef 300 mg 2's day for 8 days. after the first two days i got the c-dif back with all the D....then i went on acidpolhis pearls with two different kinds of strains Lacto B and the the other one. 1 billion in each pearl.

i thought that would help me with D and to keep the c-dif in check also. but it never works, maybe you are right maybe i ahve had this strain for 1.5 yrs and can not get rid of it. i have beeen on F for 3-4 times for 2-3 weeks at a time, then difulcan for yeast overgrowth ( saw it in my mouth)

that is just one pill that works for 7 days but man it is nasty it gives you bad stomach aches etc.

i dont know what else to do.

you say you saw a strain that was AX resistant? oh gosh, i know my doc told me that it is highly contagious between peeps also so i wash my hands at all times...

C. difficile is very easy to catch in hospitals because of 1) lots of sick people and 2) sick people sitting on toliets. If you have c. difficile, be careful not to sit on public toliet seats or you'll spread it. Also, if you frequently visit a hospital, nursing home or pharmacy bathroom, don't sit on their seats as you might catch it back from one of those. Like I said, bleach your toliet seat at home every time you sit on it and preferably everytime you flush with one of those bleach tabs in the toliet bowl so you don't reinfect yourself or give it to anyone else in the house.

For those of you with a lot of problems that seem worse than "usual" IBS and have no other answer, make sure you get tested for C. difficile. People who take certain heartburn medicines are more likely to contract it, in addition to people who have been on antibiotics. And now some people seem to be getting it for no reason at all. They are starting to see more virulent strains that are attacking healthier people and that are harder to get rid of.

wowsers i think this is what i have....i jsut now got back fro mthe doc office and he put me on more F forthis.....plus i am taking the pearls in between...lettme tell you all this is the nastiest thing i  ever saw or felt the poop STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN and ribbons of green bile come out....now i hope this will go way but since i had it for 1.5 yrs on and off i dont know....i had no idea how contagious it i s....i dont ever want to shake hands wit hanyone ever again or sit on a toliet sit ever again.

this is bad....plus i take zantac from time to time
