Is this IBS or ?????

Hi Everyone

I need your help. I would like to know if you have any of these symptoms. (I have had IBS for years, without meds)

3 months ago I started having diarrhea. approx 5-10 times a day. Then I got a high temperature and I had upper right quad pain under my rib bone. The pain was at that time a sharp quick stabbing pain, now it is a constant dull ache. I am still having the D and the pn. All test come back neg except for the blood tests that I had when I originally got sick. I had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy last week biopsy's were neg but he told me that I had diverticulosis and also some lesions throughout my colon. The Dr. called me and told me basically that it was my IBS, I told him that I have never had a day with out pain and D for the last 3 months. He said the IBS was changing. (usually when I have had a bad IBS attack it is a cramping pn and the a couple bouts of D and that's it) It has never lasted longer than a day. This is my 3rd month. Please help me. I feel sooo alone

Upper right quadrant pain? Did anyone do a hidascan to check your gall bladder? Those can get infected/inflammed and lead to temperatures. I had three hidascans before they positively identified my diarrhea and pain as being caused by my gall bladder (mine was chronically inflamed). It had been bad 5 years before they caught it too. My symptoms gradually became worse until I felt a lump under my rib cage and an ache there all the time and had diarrhea to some degree pretty much every day.

Yellow or green diarrhea is a sign of a bad gall bladder (although it can be seen in people with IBS-D who pass their food and digestive juices through too fast to absorb them); that's caused by your gall bladder excreting too much bile or dumping it at the wrong time. Nausea and vomiting are also pretty common, as is the rather odd feeling of being suddenly full, even though you may have only eaten a small part of your meal or have taken a bite or two. Also, when you're having an attack of pain and/or nausea, laying down makes both worse. Pain/aches in the right arm, shoulder and elbow are also a sign. You don't have to have all of these symptoms to have a bad gall bladder, but the more you have, the more likely it is your gall bladder.

Lesions aren't IBS, no matter what he says. The diagnosis of IBS is that there is no visible damage to or problems with the colon. And of course it is possible that you can have more than one thing wrong with you at once, so I think he shouldn't dismiss checking your gall bladder. I'm not familiar with the symptoms of lesions, but you do have a lot of gall bladder symptoms. Perhaps lesions in your upper colon mimic the symtoms of a bad gall bladder (a number of things do), but a hidascan is not a difficult test and if your problem--or at least part of it--is your gall bladder, then discovering that is better than letting you suffer, right? And if it comes back fine, then you can at least be fairly confident that your problem is the lesions and concentrate on treating them.

Hyoscamine is for cramping and it can be really hit or miss. Some people on here it works for, but for others, like me, we might as well drink a glass of water for all the good it does. It certainly never put a dent in my gall bladder attacks. But, there are a lot of antispasmodics out there, so if it doesn't work, definitely demand something else.

Personally, I wouldn't trust a doctor that dismisses lesions so casually and thinks that they are a sign of IBS. I think maybe you should find someone else.
