Hi everyone! So I believe I had a thrombosed hemmroid. My gosh, OW! I began taking metamucil, using preparation h, and taking hot baths... It's been several days and now I think I may be allergic to the Prep H. I've developed (yes, sorry.. .gross info alert) a swollen area about 4 inches in diameter... I think it's causing more pain than the hemmroid is!

Has anyone else had this problem?! I've since stopped taking the prep H (only a day now) and hope the rash goes away...

I have never had a hemorrhoid, so I'm sorry I can't help you there. BUT, maybe you should go see a doc about the hemmie and the rash. If both are pretty painful maybe the doc can give you something to alleviate it.
What about Tucks medicated pads? If they have the same ingredients as Prep-H then stay away; but it can't hurt to check and compare.

Have you gone to the doctor to let him check this out? I strongly suggest you do if you havn't yet and maybe even get him to send you to a colon and rectom specialist just to be sure, the reason being...I was told for yrs that I had hemheroides and long story short they were never hemheroides but instead perianal crohns skin tags...needless to say, I have crohns disease and it started on my anus with these skin tags not internally like it typically does, but believe me that came after...I now also have IBS and lactose intolerance, 3 whammies, same crap, different pile...get it checked out.

That swollen area may be a internal hemroid that is now an external hemroid. See a Dr. don't mess with it. Crummy area to have problems.

Sometimes they require surgery. President Regan had his operated on during his term.

Thanks for the advice guys. I went to the doctor yesterday and got painkillers and antibiotics. He looked, said 'oh boy'... but then assured me i would not be needing a butt transplant. So I am still in pain, but it's getting better. :)

LOL  Well, it's good to see you've got your humor through all this.  tongue

While you're on the probiotics try to eat yogurt or get yourself some probiotics.  You'll need to replenish the "good bacteria" that the antibiotics will kill off.

And, as I found out, continue to consume probiotics for a week or two after you stop the antibiotics. Some of these new antibiotics linger in your system for a while and can mess you up after you quit taking the pills.
