nervous stomach or IBS

I was talkin to my mom today about my doctors appointment on thursday and she said maybe he will get me an appointment to the therapist sooner and I asked her what that would do and she said that the doctors think i could just have a nervous stomach but i thought nervous stomach was the same thing as IBS ( i was diagnosed with IBS though)

"Nervous stomach" isn't a medical term that I'm familiar with; sounds like the sort of self-diagnosing term that lay people use, like "stomach flu" (there's no such thing as a stomach flu). But I bet the symptoms of a "nervous stomach" are the same as IBS. Most, if not all, people with IBS will notice an increase in their symptoms if they are stressed, nervous, or depressed. I'm not normally a stressed preson, but I definitely noticed bowel problems for a couple of days after I got very upset about running over a puppy.

yea thats what i meant i thought nervous stomach was just another name for IBS so i get to go see a therapist.......thats wierd that you mention a puppy i was wanting another dog
