Does anyone ever have even worse stomach pains after having a colonoscope ??

I know i sure am!  Sometimes its just pain and hurts really bad but I dont feel like I have to use the restroom and Im just guessing its gas but I dont have to get any out!  I dont like having these problems anymore! Instead of giving people millions of dollars for acting and stuff like that they should be giving millions of dollars to researching this stuff

i had a sidoscopy done end of last year. i found that after i had it done i was in pain. the pain has now got worse. i believe that it was that that caused my pain to become worse. i am on so many painkillers and anitspasmotics anitdepressabts. but it is just the same. i have even been sent to see a pschartist who was very rude and told me it was my fault i feel like this. i am not sure if it is comom to get pain after but i did and still have it after five month later.

i am going back to see a gi so hoping they will be able to help me.

Do you mean the immediate day, or few days, after the colonoscopy? Most of mine were no problem, but a couple of times turned out as you describe. During colonoscopy, the doc has to blow air into a particular areas of bowel to navigate, examine it better and/or take biopsies. They usually get all the excess air out before you wake up, but sometimes they just don't get it all and yeah, it HURTS!

yea i knew they blew air up there but i will get pain right under my ribs

That's a common place for air to get trapped - right under the ribs. If you look at an anatomical chart, you'll see that the large intestine begins on the lower right side up your body, goes up under the right ribs (ascending colon); travels across to the left side (transverse colon); and then goes back down the left side (descending colon) to the little "puddle" of sigmoid colon deep in the pelvis; and then to the rectum. Those areas up top that curve are notorious for trapping gas and air. As long as it goes away in a few days - like less than a week - you should eventually be OK. Sorry to hear you're having even worse trouble after your scope. :-(

Sometimes flushing the colon out for a colonscopy prep can flush out too much good bacteria and cause an imbalance in the intestines, which can lead to pain and gas. So if your gas doesn't go away in a few days, like TexasJen says, then try some probiotics or Activia yogurt for a week or two and see if that sets you back right again.

oh ok Thanks Texas and Keriamon ... I have some of the Activa yogurt stuff so Ill try that but I havent had the pain for awhile well atleast today thanks though.
