Doesn't sound "bad" to me, like something is drastically wrong that you need to see a doctor about
. Since "normal" for you is going once a day - that's good! Sounds to me more like you just have a slow transit time that results in hard stool. The longer stool sits in your colon, the harder and drier it gets. The job of the colon is to extract water from stool, you have to make sure you get more fluid intake that other people do.
Lots of people in my family are like you, and we just have to continually remember to get enough fiber in our diets so constipation doesn't rule our lives. Along with the additional fiber, you have to make sure to really increase your water intake - and I mean water - not carbonated soft drinks, coffee, tea, that sort of thing. Many women experience constipation, or worsening constipation around that time of the month as well. Just something women like us need to be aware of and plan to include extra fruit, veggies and water and back off on the breads and starches for a few days. If you haven't ever tried the increased fiber to tackle the C, just remember to add it very slowly or you'll bloat up like a balloon and get very crampy. No fun!
