Can this happen with IBS - C? So much so to actually go up a dress size?

I feel pretty uncomfortable...

Hi Syrup,

It is not terribly uncommon for IBSers to gain weight (especially with IBS-C).  IBS causes many of us to bloat.  Lots of members have talked about how they look pregnant and can't fit into their clothes.

Are you on only medication that has weight gain as a side effect?  I remember when I got on birth control I gained like 10 lbs.  Same goes for steriods, my buddy got a severe case of poison oak and the doc prescribed Prednisone -- he gained almost 10 lbs from being on it for 10 days.

Hi, I also am overweight and have IBS/C.  It is also all in my belly.  I am careful not to overeat.  I have heard that the belly fat is indicative of heart disease.  But, actually it probably makes more sense that I have it from the IBS/C.  I took a nuclear heart test and did well on the test.

Yes it can do a number on your belly that is why most people (women) feel like they look pregnant. The rest of the body is okay, not very proportional. The bloating is horrible, I do find though that I'm not as bad anymore since I take my Miralax and fiber regularly and use Beano for when I'm eating extra carbs. Cuts down on the bloating for me.

Sometimes antispamotics will help prevent bloating along with a lot of simethicone like in Gas-X and Maalox Max. Pepto helps me and when things get really bad I take one Dulcolax which gets the gas moving.
