Do any of you take bentyl for pain and cramping?  A GI doctor just prescribed it (with fiber supplements), but I haven't even filled it yet.  I'm a bit leary of taking antispasmodics because of constipation issues, but the drug evidently also helps with bladder spasms, which I do have and are very painful.  Just wondering if any of you have experienced any nasty side effects from bentyl, or other drugs like it.

Hi Elcamino,
I do not take Bentyl, however, my best friend does. She says it works great but that it makes her incredibly drowsy. She has to take it at night when she knows she won't be leaving the house, or when she'll be going to bed soon.
There are so many antispasmodics out there don't worry about asking your doc to try another if Bentyl doesn't work for you. Good luck!

I wish I could help.  I've been subscribed Bentyl but been too chicken to take it because I am so sensitive to medicine.

I have been taking peppermint with ginger and cammolmile capsules.

Thanks for the replies.  I'll fill the prescription and give it a try.  I'll be sure to take it in the evening, just in case.
