I have IBS and was looking for a good doctor to maybe explore things more and get better.
Compared to some stories on here I think I am relatively in good shape. I have IBS-D and can manage pretty well based off safe foods. For instance my wife and I spent 2 weeks traveling through Europe and it was relatively stress free thanks to a couple Immodium once a week or so and sticking to ham and cheese sandwiches and no alcohol every where we went. I also have great friends who know my illness so they don't really mind anymore if I just sit there and chat while they have a meal, because they know it's just what I have to do.
I have seen a gastro doctor in Houston before but I didn't really like him. He didn't seem like he had a firm plan of action to really help me. He just did a sigmoidoscopy which he said was completely healthy and that is all, but then never really recommended much. I like a doctor that has a plan of action like: "First we will test for this, if that comes back negative, then we can explore this, and from there we can do this...etc."
Anyway, I am just interested in maybe going a bit further to see if there is anything that can help me a bit more. I am motivated because my wife and I are trying to have a baby and I really don't want my IBS to get in the way of being the absolute best father I can be.
Any recommendations of good doctors in the Houston area?
