Just started Lotronex for 'Malignant IBS'....anyone have any experiance with this med?

What is malignant IBS?  confused

I can't help you with Lotronex, but here are a couple posts about it:

I think "malignant" IBS is what they call retractable or particulary severe IBS.  I remember one of my docs using that term at one point.  My first GI was ready to put me on Lotronex when I had 20-30 BMs a day, but it never actually happened because he didn't know exactly what was wrong and wasn't comfortable with an "iffy" med.

Mandolen, do you have a definitive diagnosis yet?  I hear this drug is extremely effective, but it does have to be used carefully.

I think you're right on that Sarita about the Malignant IBS. He considers my 20 bm's a day to severe IBS...or Crohn's....but the Crohn's is in remission apparently at this time.

 

Until Tuesday, my definate dx was CD. He says the CD is in remission and that IBS is what is causing my current numerous bm's.

 

Lotronex can't be taken if a patient has active Colitis...but I'm ready to start feeling better!
