When exactly do you start 'feeling' abdominal pain with IBS? My MD thinks I have IBS---and what I find--is that very soon after I eat----I get "pain" in my right upper quadrant (ribs, back, shoulder)---just curious!

It can start anytime .. from the moment you start eating up to hours afterwards ... anytime. It can be very random too ... and come at a time you can't associate with having eaten. You will find that everyone is different though. There don't seem to be any set "rules" for any of us. But for me the pain can be instant from when I eat to up to one or 2 hours after.

Have you had your gall bladder checked. Upper right quadrant pain can often be gall bladder as opposed to IBS. Have you seen a gastroenterologist? That would be the next step or have you PCP order a gall bladder ultrasound to start. Sounds more like that to me unless you are having a lot of diahrea or constipation, too.
