For all those worried about having a HIDA scan, I would like to say mine was completely painless! Mine was last Monday and I was very nervous, expecting some nausea and cramping from the CCK injection after reading about other people's bad experiences but I did not feel anything while the IV was going. The radioactive tracer was injected first then I had to lay under the machine for 30 minutes until the gallbladder showed up, then they brought over an IV machine with the CCK and said that would run for 20 minutes, after that finished, I just had to lay there for 10 more minutes for final scans and that was it. It just took about an hour. My ejection number was 42 which they said was normal so my regular dr. has referred me to a gastroenterologist to figure out what the pain in my upper right side could be.
