From my understanding so far this technology involving stem cells and kidney function is not ready for human consumption... What tests have been done on animals do show some inhibition of cyst production but little to no regeneration of dead gomerules (sp.?), and of course only works certain types of CKD, those due to certain causes. Seems to me like it could work theoretically but the process would have to be repeated over and over to where that exceeds the usefulness.
There are several other promising technologies in the works (it's a long process to get stuff tested and legal) and much of what you can do for yourself now depends on things like your GFR and symptoms, type of disorder, and estimated kidney function remaining. Just Google "stem cell kidney" and avoid all the websites where you get a "live chat" popup, if you want to read more about it. I'm just a little further down the same road you're traveling, if I can help any more let me know.
