New here, kidney stone surgery question?

HI new here, but im on the UC board. Last Tuesday i had my 3rd stone..the first ones being in 1999 and second in 2002 i believe..never had one since. Anyway was in Vegas woke up at about 9:00 had that all to familer pain in my back, but it had been so many years since i had a stone i thought no way..Anyway ended up at the ER same song and dance went home with Percocets and told to drink tons of water to pass it. I have a 2.7mm stone. So Tuesday night comes and im feeling a lot better, no pain, i must have passed it, so i thought. Wednesday feel great its gone..this is what happened with my other stones, a 10 hour or so ordeal, passed them, all done..Thur morn comes and about 6:30 i get up to go pee and right after heres is that left sided pain again, couldn't believe it.!..drove home from Vegas that day in excruciating pain. Luckily my wife drove and i screamed the whole time. Cant believe i cant pass this stone, at least this size. Go to Urologist and said i might have to have surgery to get it out but says you have a good chance of passing it.. Has anyone had that surgery? laser surgery with the stint? mine inst until Thursday morn and im hoping to god i pass it before. I have been drinking liquids like crazy, lemonade, water..everything to get it to pass and no luck.

Well, i had it yesterday and so far so good. The stint is a little weird but not to bad, all i could think about is the song from Frank Zappa on the Joes Garage record " Why does it hurt when i Pee"..its not to bad though and the stone is gone, feeling great from that removal.!

Hi I had the same surgery before but they said they found nothing...is it hurt when they remove the stint?

I had the surgery to remove a 6mm stone on Friday. They put in a stent which will be removed one week later.
It's definitely BETTER than trying to pass a stone. A few things they told me to:

* purchase AZO to help with burning and take 2 capsules 3 times a day.
* They sent home pain killers which I took the first day but Ibuprofen has worked since then.
*Constipation is a problem with any surgery. Recommendations were to take 1 capful of Miralax 3 times a day, A laxative as directed on package and stool softeners 3 times a day plus 1/4-1/2 cup prune juice. . Mission accomplished 2 days later.
* They did not tell me that I may not hold liquids. LITERALLY. The first day was fine but yesterday I had a big surprise with the bladder leaking anything I drank. I finally bought Depends (don't get the cheap brands). That brought some normalcy to my day. They also prescribed a medication to stop the spasm which is why you leak. I wish they had told me so I could have items on hand.

It's definitely been 'doable' and no where near the pain of the kidney stones. I'm not a doctor so please check with your doctor before taking any of the recommendations above. I just wish someone would have warned me.
