Hi. Since shortly after a diabetes dx, I've also been dxd with CKD... chronic kidney disease. My numbers are usually in the mid fifties which puts me at stage 3 ckd. My nephrologist tells me I can still live a long time at this stage as we are born with more kidney function than we need. There is no medication to help at this time and the best things I can do for my kidneys are to watch what I eat and stay hydrated. Whenever there is some infection in my body, my kidney function will drop, but usually comes back up when the infection is gone. It's been almost 5 yrs now and so far, I'm holding steady and keeping healthy. This summer has been really hot and staying hydrated has been a challenge. It scares the daylights out of me but I try not to think about it too mich. I'm doing what I can. IMO, kidney damage and ckd are pretty much the same. You have decreased kidney function because your kidneys are mildly damaged ( not working at peak capacity). I don't see my nephrologist till next February, so would be interested in hearing what your dr says, if you don't mind updating. Take care.
