gfr of 51

is a one-time test for gfr showing 51 something to worry about? my doctor said no that I am healthy. what would be the next step for me?

thank you for your response; actually the low number got to me and I ended up asking my doctor to follow it. These tests were done two years ago. Now I just took a comprehensive metabolic panel and expect to get the results this coming week. It should really be revealing as to what is happening. I hope to have a higher GFR because I want to be well not sick. Unfortunately I feel poorly much of the time so...if it comes back low at least I will know why I am so tired in the morning,why my legs and underarms always itch and why the metallic taste in my mouth in the mornings.

HEy again Startfield!! Let us know what your results are. Do you have a history of any type of illness running in your family? When you mentioned the metallic taste in mouth I immediatly thought of medications...are you taking any type of medication? The second thing I thought of with the itching and the metalic taste together, possibly a food allergy? How often does it happen?

One of my sisters recently had a kidney stone; aside from this I don't know of any other kidney problems. Heart disease, cancer, emphysema, these run in my family along with diabetes and a few other things.

The metallic taste precedes any meds. I have it every morning and have had for 15+ years. Itching is just lately whenever I take a bath and for about 2 hours afterward. I don't know for how long it has lasted, maybe only three years. The hot water seems to trigger it and I have to use lotion after showering....maybe it is just dry skin.

about a year ago I found out I had a severe allergy to dairy and gluten, have been watching my diet religiously since then and can say I no longer suffer from migraines, hives and stomach upset, thank God!.........
