My sister's kidneys shut down from strong meds used for a 3rd degree burn on her leg about 3+ weeks ago. She has a thing below her collar bone for dialysis for now, but the doctor thinks the kidneys will reverse. The question is, he wants her to come in, in 2 weeks to set up an appt for an AV Fistula in her arm.
1. Is it too soon in case the kidneys reverse soon or within the next 5 months?
2. If it is put in, when do they start using the fistula since it has to enlarge quite a bit first
3. Can a fistula be reversed and/or undone if she gets a transplant and does not need dialysis anymore?
4. Does the vibration from a fistula cause great annoyance and no sleep?
any info on what to expect, is greatly appreciated. She is so scared over this and knows what they look like from photos. She was totally healthy before this happened. Anyone out there with an AV fistula please give some advice on what its like. thanks sooooooooooooooooooo much!
