My mother is almost 60-years-old, and is an alcoholic. She was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver 10 years ago. Over the past couple of years, she started showing signs of the disease - bruising, legs swelling, bad circulation, jaundice, etc...
A couple months ago she was admitted to the ER for low sodium levels, which then turned into low magnesium and potassium levels too. She was released, but since then can't seem to keep any levels stable. She's 5'2 and is down to 98 pounds...maybe lower now. She's jaundice, gray, no muscle, disoriented (not sure if that's alcohol though), and has low sodium again. Her doctor has told her to go to the ER for evaluation but is refusing.
Please don't write back with advice on taking/helping her...it's a complicated situation. I'm just looking to see if anyone is familiar with this stage of the disease and your thoughts on what I should prepare myself for...
