Hi! I am visiting from the Crohns board. My Dad has been very ill for a while. I live just far enough away and I am the youngest so I can't gather information easily. I do however have some medical background from my job. Now I am trying to fill in the blanks without jumping to conclusions. Would love a basic idea from you folks so I could give my sister some thoughts....
Dad has been having bad back pain for several months (at least since December holidays). Originally they said muscle spasms, but later he fell due to severe anemia. I originally blamed it on poor diet and it is likely he has Crohns. He has since had 2 hospital stays with loss of mental function due to severe low red count and he got blood each time. The docs are now giving him biweekly "hemoglobin injections". They say he is "not making red cells" to qutoe a bad family source. He is 82 years old.
My sister is suspect he has a tumor/cancer. I am wondering if he is in the beginning of kidney failure.
Do you think I am far off if you can even tell from what I know? Any thoughts are appreciated...and thanks for listening
