English Roger ...
I'm not sure why there haven't been replies to this thread - unless it's because it is about a potential kidney problem for someone who has prostate cancer - but it's posted under Kidney Problems.
I do have advanced Prostate Cancer - and kidney problems as well! I was in the hospital three times from January of 2011 to June of 2012 - with what ultimately was called kidney failure. The diagnosis by my oncologist
in January of 2012 was that the metastasized prostate cancer had moved into the area of the right kidney and was blocking its function of going to the bladder.
Rather than going into dialysis, another procedure was tried ... and it has worked pretty well for the past 13-months since June of 2012. I had a nefrostomy tube placed on the right side for that kidney - and an internal stent placed on the left side for that kidney. The nefrostomy tube was placed by a Radiologist and needs to be replaced about every 4-months - and the stent is replaced about every 4-months by my Urologist.
If the day ever comes that you're given a choice of a need for dialysis or other procedures - please research the nefrostomy tube placement. It is less invasive to me - and while there is a maintenance factor, it is so much less confining than doing dialysis a couple of times a week.
Wish you well.

Again - best wishes to you ... don't ignore the kidney function!
