Hi, I have popped over from the crohns board as I have now had to be referred to a Renal doc a quick insight to what's happening.
In Jan13 I had major surgery for Crohns my bloods were all fine while I was on TPN ( Total parental nutrition basically being fed through a port in my chest) till I came off it in July. Since then I went through a stage of craving salty foods went to see GP in Aug about this and he arranged for blood test for kidney function as well as magnesium & calcium he called me a few days later and was concerned as my Creatinine levels were 164 told me to come off anything salty and repeat bloods in 3 days I done this and the result came back at 156 so since then I have had loads of repeated bloods for the Creatinine and can't seem to get it below 148 I'am now being referred to Renal doc as the GP is puzzled as to why its still high. Haven't craved salt for a while and don't put it on my food or cook with it now and still the test is coming back high yet I have no symptoms such as back ache or any pain
My Question is what will the Renal doctor do next?
Also what is Creatinine and what does it do? I have googled it but its so confusing I can't make it out just need someone to tell me in simple form
Thank you in advance for any advice you can give Bev
