Pain after kidney stones removed

Hi ip new to this, im pretty desperate to find out why I am in so much pain 3 days after the procedure on my kidney I had rirs done a flexible tube is passed through my ureter where a lazer was attatched and fragmented the stone, it says you can be fit for work in two days, I will need a week off, im in so much pain in my right kidney the bleeding is
not so bad now

Welcome to Healing Well.

The procedure can be painful that's for sure. Do you have a stent in that side? If so, that itself can cause quite a lot of pain for some people. I haven't been able to keep on in for more that about 5 days.

It hurts to urinate for about a week after I have a stone removed.

If they didn't put in a stent there could be little pieces still digging into the wall of the uterer. I had this happen after my 1st stone. They had to go back in and scape the pieces out.

no I didn't have have a stent left, one of the recovery nurses said they had managed to get the fragments out it was done with a holium laser, the worst pain is the flank of my back coming round to my middle, I had a 9mm lower pole non obstructing calculus ??, and have had blood in my urine with pain nearly every day since feb worse since august.
would like to hear from more people who have sadly experienced similar , hope you are fully recovered Bill, regards Lorraine

Hi Lorraine and welcome! Sorry about the stones and the problems! Bill's absolutely right, without the stents placement those little sand like fragments can feel like boulders passing out of your system!

Make sure your drinking plenty of water its very important to keep flushing their path out. It can make a huge difference as to how fast or slow the process of getting all the leftover pieces out.

Also depending upon how many repeated hits with that laser you took you can be sore and even bruised some from the actual procedure.

Good luck and hopefully you'll be done with the entire process soon.

Hi Vickie, thank you so much for re assuring me I wasn't going mad, the pain in recovery was terrifying , I was shocked to think you could have spasms like that, as I didn't feel llike I was passing, just remembered someone saying you have had 5 wires? in there so its going to re act, thanks again for replying xxx

If you continue to have spasms they can give you a medicine for that. Sometimes it's your bladder that spasms after stone removal.
