Posted this question in the crohn's board as I am also a crohn's patient. I have always been hypoglycemic and have controlled it with diet (meals every 3-4 hours). Have had issues with ureters swelling and also kidney stones in the past. Currently something going on with the kidneys, have the familiar radiating pain and a ct scan scheduled this morning. Most likely a stone or sediment. No visible blood in urine, however, have ALWAYS had microscopic blood in the urine!? Was just treated a week ago for a UTI with Bactrim. The low blood sugar problem came in when the dr. 1st put me on cipro for the UTI. Sugar dropped after each dose and I had dr. switch me over to the bactrium. Also have a history of waking with migraines which I had blamed on a side effect of a crohn's drug taken the night before. However, I think it may be possible that I've had low blood sugar the entire time! Even after eating (post 2 hr. monitor test) my sugar is NOT getting above fasting range. Yes, I know how to balance proteins & slow carbs to stabilize it...it's NOT working and I am grazing like a horse all day because I'm starving. I have also had a section of intestines removed, 2006, due to the crohns. Just don't understand why the sugar problem and it's relation possibly to my kidneys? Anyone else have a history similar and can offer any light on the situation?
