I discussed the cryoablation procedure with my urologic oncologist when I was diagnosed with a small lesion on my right kidney. It was one of the choices, along with the robotic surgery, that I was offered. Like you, I've had abdominal surgery that involved, at least on the second surgery, the removal of 18" of my sigmoid colon. Fortunately, I apparently have an extra long sigmoid colon (perhaps why it got strangulated in the first place?), so I have had no long lasting impacts from the missing 18". While the surgeon that removed the lesion initially had some concerns about the possible presence of scar tissue, he reviewed all the available CT's and Ultrasounds and said no problem, so I had the surgery in 2016.
In terms of the cryo, however, the recovery time is pretty fast. If your job is heavily physical, you should wait at least two or three weeks before heading back (per the Cleveland Clinic). If it's more sedentary, I would give it at least a week, just to make sure there are no complications and to get to a folow-up appointment with less stress.
Good luck to you!
