Hi Everyone. My rheumy and neurologist convinced me to take a neuro-psych exam to test my cognitive function (or the lack thereof). The exam was last Thursday and lasted from 9:00-3:30 with a 30 minute break. The doc told me that if I got tired I could reschedule some of the testing, but I have enough medical appts and really didn't want to come back. Anyway, the exam was a ***** and I was completely exhausted. I had trouble on lots of the short term memory tests, but could recall info I learned years ago. My analytical ability is also shot. The last test of the day, which I failed, was a flip chart that consisted of clock hands on a page with no numbers and I had tell her what time it was. Gee, and it sounds so simple...I guess I shouldn't have studied chemistry extensively in college. Love, Butter

Dear Flake, Don't feel bad about it -- it certainly isn't anything you set out to do badly on -- it's lupus taking over the body. I was in really bad shape like that, the Dr suggested such a test, but before we could get it scheduled he decided to try Cellcept. The Cellcept worked like a wonder drug and within 2 weeks my brain was functioning better. I took Cellcept for about a year, then tapered it back over 2-3 months -- now it's been 5-6 months without it. My brain is almost as good as it was pre-lupus (except the fatigue, of course). I see you are already on quite a mix of meds -- I hope they kick in soon so that you can tell time again! Cheers,

I'm so sorry! You must be wiped out. At least you know you could study chemistry at one time and that it's just this DD. I can relate. I started working on my disability application this weekend, and if there is anything that could make my wafer-thin self-esteem any lower, that would be it. I already know I can't think straight for more than about
30 minutes, that I need a nap about
every 2 1/2 hours, and can't work, but for the application, obviously, you have to state just how incapacitated you really are, and I had never really put it into words before. I know what a sad state I am in, but something about
the application, just finished me off. I just had never realized that my comprehension lasts for 30 min (rather than just knowing I get spacy) and that I can't walk more than a block, and etc., etc. I hadn't thought of these things in such concrete terms before. Oh well, one day at a time, or one hour at a time -- depending on the day! LOL Don't you wish we could go out and get our mushy brains sloshed together! And take a taxi home, because I can't drive anymore!

Thanks Guys. Lynnwood, I'm counting on the Cellcept doing extraordinary things. Harmony, I'd love to take a taxi, meet somewhere, and laugh about
our common "interests," but how would we know it was time to go home?

Butterflake: After the bartender cuts me off, which would probably be about
half a beer! That would be a short visit. Maybe we better meet at the coffee shop instead.

Okay, good point, forget it. How 'bout I invite everybody over to my place for a party. Come as you are, bunny slippers and flannel jammies allowed. See ya soon!
