pill organizers

I use three seven day containers. I can hear some of you say "Three - why three?" LOL Each is a different color so I can easily tell which I need at certain times of the day. The containers are about 6" x 1" x 7/8". I got my containers for free from the pharmacy at my military hospital.

One if the meds I take is 2 huge capsules that must be taken every 8 hours. The AM dose is different than the other 2 doeses and I was struggling in the dark in the early AM hours to find the correct capsule among the 5 others. I got the wrong dosage a couple times so I have the AM dose in a separate container from the others. The rest of that large cap med is in the second container. I recently added my asthma medication to both of these containers because it works best evenly spaced. The two containers together hold 9 pills in each days slot.

The 3rd container has my BP meds, Imuran, folic acid, zetia, Prevacid, and 2 vitamins - 11 tablets and caps in each day's little box.

I have 6 of the 7-compartment type. That way I can sort out AM and PM pills for 3 weeks at a time. Somehow I don't feel as sickly if I only count every three weeks instead of every week!! I also feel better if I watch a fairly mind-less sitcom while I count. My doctor told me each week when he counts his pills he rotates through having each of his 3 sons sit with him while he counts.

I have a basket. I have them all lined up and know what to take and when. My husband know when I say I need a pain pill he knows what to grab. I also use a 7day planner with different time on it I belive it is 4 different times for when I travel. You just have to find what works for you. I also have a day planner for different things. Right now I am on Pred. and am on the 14 day and am in the process of gradualy getting off of it and I have it all marked on my planner. My planner is like my brain. I mark my daily blood for diabetes and have all important dates in it. I found reputition for me works best.

I've tried several and my fav is also from CVS.  It's a standing column that holds seven indiviual, self contained boxes.  So there is a box labeled for each day of the week and each box has four compartments for AM to PM doses.  Each month I four columns and pull out a compartment each day and throw it in my pocket. It's pricey- $16.00, but makes life easier.  Love, Butterflake

i have two pill organizers but they are basically the same. I take about 20 pills a day, and my organizer is for 7 days with 4 compartments, and they attach to a back but are removable, so everyday i just pull the case for that day. I can throw them in my purse without worrying about them falling out. One is big with compartments big enough to fit 12 pills including big capsules and the other one is a smaller that i use daily.

That thing is frightening!
