Nose ulcers

Hello: I read the criteria and am curious about he nose ulcers. Can someone please tell me what they are like and are they on the inside and raw looking? My doctor is blaming allergies for the nose problem and I am having other symptoms as well, like body pain and headaches. Thanks D

Hi Dowa, Do you have mouth ulcers too? They commonly go together. I've only had very minor nose sores and never thought anything of it until I saw that listed as a symptom for lupus. Its amazing what little things we have put off as "normal" that go together and help solve the puzzle for diagnoses. Are you sun sensitive? Rashes and/or sick feeling after short exposure to sun? That is also common and can show up before other issues get really bad. Welcome to the forum. I hope some of the others can talk more about the nose sores. I've never seen inside my nose to know what to tell you. Blessings!

Dowa, like Rosie said, the nose and mouth ulcers often go together. I get the mouth ulcers when I am flaring and every so often I get nose ones also. Mine are little bumps inside my nose. As far as your doctor saying that your nose problems and headaches, etc are due to your allergies, all I can say is that you know your body better than anyone. I think it is so important to listen to your gut instincts about your body and if your doctor isn't open to looking at possibilities outside of allergies, it might be time to get another opinion. I mostly get mouth ulcers but sometimes I get them together within my nose too. My sores kinda look like a huge canker sore. My ulcers are usually up on the roof of my mouth, down my inside cheek, and along my bottom gums. When I get ulcers in my nose they look the same as my mouth ones. It's usually a good indicator that something is happening with my body.

When I'm out in the sun I usually develop sores that kinda look like chicken pox on my joints, trunk of my body, and on my sides of my body. I break out into rashes everytime I spend more than 10 mins in the sun.

I would ask your doctor to reconsider whats happening with your sores. Like Hippi said you know your body better than anyone else. I wish you well and I hope the figure out things soon and get you on the proper treatment.

Thank you all for replying. I do not have trouble in the sun, not yet anyway. Is that always a symptom of Lupus or just for some? Maybe that will help us with the diagnosis.Thanks-

It is really common . . . but some of us don't realize we have a problem . . . we've just become used to things as they are. One thing I noticed is that the affects of the sun is cumulative. If I have days in a row where I need to go out (even driving), the affect adds up and I feel like I'm getting the flu. Lupus is so different with each of us that it can be hard to dx. It is called the great imitator because it mimics so many ills. Dx is not done with a single test, but a list of criteria so it can be a challenge for the doc to figure things out. Keep looking for answers. Lots of us figured it out before the docs by doing lots of research with our own symptoms. Blessings!

I have a question im not sure if its a nose ulcer or not but i have this sore in my nose that hurt and and it doesnt seem to go away. I do have lupus sle and i just dont know what it is. thanks Dawn
