Hi everyone-
I just wanted to share something with you. My doc started me on Sulfasalazine a few months ago and I have noticed a big difference with my stiffness. I used to get stiff for the first couple hours in the am and again in the evening til I went to bed. (Im sure most of u guys do too) I was taking Celebrex 200 mg/ day and my primary didnt want to increase it because of heart problems, ulcers, blah, blah, blah.... but my rhemie said it was fine. Anyhow my rhemie put me on this. I take 1 gram twice a day and I'm still a little stiff, and still have joint pain but it doesn't take me 2 hours to get going anymore unless (most days). And I used to take 4 or more doses of Tylenol every day and alternate with Ultram. Now i just take the Ultram about twice a day. And I stopped the Celebrex. The Celebrex was the only thing that helped me in the morning. So its not a miracle cure, but I definately noticed a steady decrease in the stiffness. Its an older drug but they use it for RA and Crohns so anyone having GI symptoms may benefit too. I just worried about all the Tylenol and the Celebrex because they do have some long term side effects so I was actually glad he changed it. Has anyone else taken this? Had a good response?
