Hi--
I have been dx with a "roaming" tendonitis. I get bad pain in deep in my hip. I have scoliosis and it throws my pelvis out of alignment. There is no bone holding the pelvis to the spine. Sacroileitis and lower spinal problems were told to me as common causes. I bought a full length silk heat/massage thingy at walmart for about 39 dollars and it helps because I can position my hip on the massagers as I sleep. Sitting and puting pressure on the joint makes it worse. There are these camoflage "heat" cushions for three bucks (they dont create heat but retain your own heat and they are for hunters and are realy really cushy and propping up that hip when I sit relieves the pain for me. Tramadol didn't cut it and stronger stuff helped me. I like bengay because its instant help. Mayo told me they didn't knw why I have the tendonitis. They aren't fast to assign it to my autoimmune disease unless they are absolutely sure there is not another cause. In my case, it is likely from autoimmune and endocrine, along with the curved spine. It just happens if you have a crooked spine, the tendons and ligaments can only deal with so much. I got an xray and checked for PAD, which is something you might want to have done since it is so simple. I had a similar problem with a pelvic infection.
In my case, since propping up my hip with a pillow makes it not hurt, I feel comfortable knowing what it is. I thought it was only on one side till it moved to the other. Signs my pelvis is out of alignment (and I don't mean chiropractic, but out of alignment with my spine) one leg longer than the other and uneven gait. Physical therapy and especially massage and ultrasound realy help. when I was younger, a physical therapist gently worked on the muscles to relax and stretch them and gently over weeks repositioned my pelvis, but my spine is so crooked now,it just won't stay.
I don't know if this helps, ut I thought it was only on one side because my spine is like a corkscrew leanig to one side, but I also had it recently on the other, but not nearly as bad. It lasts for mea for up to a month or more, sometimes excruciating and immobilizing , to very mild, then is gone for months. I had the same issue with my shoulders for the same reasons. In the future I will be getting steroid and pain injections.
I hope you feel better and that maybe it is just something that goes away for good sometime. They tell me the best hings for a crooked back are proper exercises and good posture but its easier said than done. My back just don't go like that! ;)
