Provigil

Anyone know anything about it? I went to a new Rheumy and he prescribed it to me. Anyone have any experience with it? As for the lupus anticoagulant and the cardiolipin antibodies... There will be no blood thinners for now and they will watch me.

Hi Steph. I've taken it before. I know a few other people here have too. I really liked it the first few days I took it. It was great I took the dogs for two 45 min walks each day and caught up on things like cleaning out the closets, organizing the basement, etc. But by the time it was time to go to sleep I couldnt fall asleep! So I would have to take a benadryl to fall asleep. After about a week I didnt notice a difference from when I wasnt taking it. A couple days after that I started getting a crash like 6-7 hours after taking it. If I take a second dose 6 hours later Im back to taking benadryl to sleep. So I take it every so often now. I work with a girl who takes it religiously and loves it. So hopefully it will work for you. check out this site too. http://www.askapatient.com/ its personal experiences on different drugs. The Provigil is for the extreme fatigue I have. I can't function properly or normally during the day. The doc said the baby aspirin is up to me. There really is no medical evidence of it helping with blood clotting issues, but it's something to think about. He actually said 1 aspirin a week or 1 every five days, because it stays in your blood stream.

Hi, I take 200mg of provigil every morning. I noticed I'm not as hungry but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. As far as for my fatique sadly it doesn't do a dog gone thing. I could take it and fall asleep an hour later. My friend takes 100 mg. and she said when I started taking it I would probably get the shakes. So I broke it in half took 100 nohing happened took the other half nothing happened. So ever morning I take 200mg and guess what Nothing happens. I hope it helps you. let us know

I posted on provigil a few months ago. Day one, great! perfect! Beautiful day, like on steroids. Day two, okay, still beautiful, not as strong. Day three, beautiful, but not lasting as long. Day four. A little like taking nothing. Day five, tookit and fell into beautiful sleep all day. Day six, does nothing. Everyday after, did nothing.

Couldn't get medcare to pay for script without prior authorizaiton and it didn't seem worth it. Did get some burning in the kidneys toard the end few days, but I'm a mess with meds. Its a dopamnie reuptake inhibitor or something to do with dopamine. It might be a problem for people with some conditions that deal with dopamine. I do better on the epinephrine ones, but this is less hard on my liver. I think its a good option, but I just got a tolerance really fast to it.

Lots of people really love it and if it wasn't such a battle, I'd get it refilled. My boyfriend was put on it and he didn't notice a thing on the maximum dose ad just slept all day!  But then, he's impossible anyway!

 

I was prescribed Provigil for the exhaustion as well.  My insurance will not cover it and I can not afford it.  With there being NO genaric, has anyone been prescribed something else, what were your results?
