thanks for the link, it was very helpful. How is everybody? I have question for you guys. Do you have to take salt off your diet if taking prednisone? or salt is related to high blood pressure only?

we live in union city hudson county. We've been living here for 8 years. sounds like you had nice place to live in, right at the beach.

Hi Morocco, you asked about salt. I have been on predisone for years and have never been told I couldn't use salt. Predisone will make you swell up with or without salt. I noticed when I am in the hospital that my blood pressure goes up on high levels of iv steroids. When they bring me my meals they never take my salt away. I don't think a lot of salt is good for ya anyway but some times I just gotta have it.

Hi Morocco. I try to take salt off my diet because of my high blood pressure, but I still eat too much salt. What kind of doctors do you see? I have 3 main doctors: a rheumatologist for lupus; an internist for blood pressure, blood sugar, and other problems; and a psychiatrist for depression and mental problems. How are you feeling? Welcome Morocco and husband!

It is wonderful to see a husband being so supportive of his wife - especially with this very difficult disease. We are all learning different things from each other so you fit right in! One of my big problems with lupus is that I am allergic to many of the normal medicines that they use. So, we keep trying new things and staying open to new options. I see a rheumatologist, an internist, an allergist, and - new to the mix - a gastroenterologist. Apparently, my lupus is causing pancreas problems.
My primary care doctor (internist) started me on an anti-anxiety about 5 years ago. It is really helpful with "panic attacks".

hi everybody. I jus wanted to share some good news. Today, i had an appointement with my lupus doctor, and he was so proud of me and my accomplishment. The hydroxycloraquine looks like it's working. He lowerd my prednisone intake to 9mg (never heard that bfore), now i feel like close to get rid of the steroid. the plan is to lower the prednisone by 1mg every two weeks. means i'm in the right tracks.

by the way,did anybody hear about the new drug that might be approved by the DRA ( hopefully)

 it's called Riquent. hope the last stage comes out positive.

Hi Morocco,

That's wonderful news! I'm happy to hear you had a good appt with your doc and anytime you get the go ahead to lower your prednisone that's awesome too. Yes, I read the article about the possiblity of the new drug being approved. I hope it's as good as what they are saying! It will be the first new drug for lupus in 50 years, isn't that amazing?

Hi Morroco,
I just wanted you to know that there are free translations out there if you need more help in translating from Arabic to English. I am an intervention coordinator and have used programs online to help with communicating with parents and students. There are two decent ones for Arabic to English. If you just google free translations for Arabic to English you will find them.

Hi Morocco! That is great news about your rheumatologist appointment. Plus decreasing prednisone is always good. I've been decreasing 1 mg each month. I was having such a hard time lowering my prednisone that my rheumy increased one of my other drugs to help me. It's working and I'm now down to 6 mg. It's good to hear from you! Love, Butterflake
