Neurologist says no MS

An update.  My daughter spent last Friday again in ER with severe chest pain.  She did see a Rheumatologist this past week and he says that she does have pericarditis and indicates that she might have Lupus.  The Neurologist says that she does have Optic Neuritis but the MRI does not indicate that she has MS.  We are thankful for that.  She is improving daily with only Advil. Just wanted to thank everyone for their prayers.  Seems to be working.

ER is not a fun place, but least you have a ray of light (no MS) phew ...
i was dx with lupus after suspected glandular fever turned out pericarditis (positive ANA & dsDNA-double strand DNA), they treated me with prednisone & nivaquine (antimalarial) and pain killer. they wanted to hospitalise me after my 2nd ER visit when i couldn't breathe ... but finances dictated and i made a full recovery from home (6 weeks bed rest). I have been managing my disease both on & off meds! and appart from feeling crazy at times it has been okay! i a still smiling & planning a family, working (when i can from home) and have a 'normal life' ... there is life with lupus.

i am in no way glad that your daughter is suspected of having lupus but am very glad that you will have some answers and a possible way forward. My best thing i have been doing is reasearch & reading, posting questions and getting insight from these wonderful people who truly do know what you & your daughter are going thru.

I am sure that she will be seeing the rheumie again soon and s/he should order a full blood work- up ... there is a list of 11 criteria to be dx with lupus ... i think you need to meet 4 of the criteria for a positive lupus dx .... altho not at the same time but once a check box is ticked it stays ticked.
