Two nights ago I was at the end of my rope. I'd had an exhausting week of DH being away, dealing with two kids on my own along with two doctor appt's, grocery shopping etc. I had nothing left and was tired I wanted to just sit and cry. So, yesterday I got up left the kids with DH and went and got my hair done and some lovely acrylic nails, just a day of pampering for Mommy. I haven't done anything like this in so long because I've lost so much hair I didn't think there was much to be done about
making it look better and my hands are always so red and swollen, why bother having nice nails. Not to mention the fact that I spend so much on drugs and doctors I didn't want to spend anymore money on something trivial for myself. Well my message to everyone out there is just do it!! My hair looks so much better and my new beautiful nails not only make my hands look prettier, but I want to keep them nice so I'm being much more careful about
my hands. We all struggle so much with this illness and the whole day only cost me $50. That is truly a small price to pay for a tremendous self esteem boost, half a day away from the kids and cleaning and even enough spunk for a romantic evening with DH. So if you're thinking you're too tired or money is too tight or it doesn't matter what you do, think again and go for a little pampering. Take care everyone and God Bless.

Jennifer, thank you for this reminder and good for you!!!! I think we all forget to do nice things for ourselves. So come on ladies..........lets do something to pamper ourselves, whether it be a nice bath with candles, a new hairstyle, getting our nails done, etc. I plan on getting a pedicure this week!!!!

So glad you had a pampering - you deserve it!
The other week my feet were red, inflamed and swollen and they looked a mess. So I decided to paint my toe nails hot pink - it made my feet look less inflamed and it made me feel better. I think it's important to pamper yourself now and again - sometimes when I'm really ill I don't have the energy and letting myself go just makes me feel worse.

I'm thinking of saving up for a day spa outing. There's a really nice one up here in N GA mountains. It's pretty expepensive but if I felt that good after a half a day of nails and hair imagine how good I'd feel after a day of massage and total pampering. I just don't know if I could bring myself to spen almost $200 on it. Have to really think about
that one.

Right now I am in Quanzhou, China for work . . . had an early night (didn't have to do dinner with our factories tonight), so took 90 minutes and spent 146 RMB (about
$25 USD) and got a Chinese foot massage and pedicure . . . Steal of a deal!!! i LOVE being in China for work :) 6 hour work days, 2 hour lunches, 2 hour dinners and inexpensive massage . . . . time to bring this type of schedule back to the States with me!
Hope everyone tries to take/make time for themselves . . . I know i tend to get caught up in the every day happenings and forget to slow down until its too late.
Take care, all!

Jennifer,
I agree with you. It's important to take care of yourself, in whatever way that works for you, and not get burned out. I believe that is true for everyone, sick or not. Good for your for having had a wonderful day, & I'm sure you'll eventually save up for your big day of pampering.
I have a friend who hosts a party every year and her daughter's manicurist/masseusse friend joins them and they get pampered for hours. Manicures, pedicures, neck massages, foot soaks, etc. And it doesn't cost any more than the goodies that my friend prepares. A little bit of wine, lively chatter, and a day away from the real world. A good life is all about
being creative.
Thanks for sharing!

I think I'm due for this also. Have to be secretive as not to make my husband jealous
He LOVES to be pampered (massages, pedicures). He's very high mainenance LOL. I would tell him but I'd think he would just want to go with me and that would defeat the purpose of "ME time"

That's great! I'm so glad your day went so well. I tried this too about
two months ago and mine didn't go so well. In fact, I felt worse afterwards then I did before. Just my luck. ULTA was having this pure minerals event where they did a free makeover and if you signed up for it, you got 20 dollars off a salon service. It was perfect because I needed a day like that and I really wanted some highlights. It was horrible from beginning to end. The stylist was terrible. I thought we were going to do highlights, but she though all over color. I asked her what she thought would be better and she looked at me like I was an idiot and told me she didn't know. I asked to see pictures and went ahead with the all over color. She barely talked to me the whole time. I would ask her questions and some times she would not even answer. ((my first time ever there too)). She was distracted and treated me like I was a side job, not a paying customer. I paid 80 dollars for this too by the way. It took her 3 times going back to mix up color to get enough for my hair. Then she left in the chair with wet hair plastered to my head full of gunk and took off to the back for 45 minutes. She did not offer me a magazine, drink, nothing. When she went to wash my hair out, she looked at it funny but then went on with it. As soon as we went back to the chair, I almost cried. I could tell it was going to look awful. It looked yellow wet. Dried was not better, and she did a horrible job drying and styling my hair even though I tried to tell her I have naturally curly hair it frizzes and sticks up easy. I looked terrible. My hair was more than one color and not in a good way. It was so bad, it looked like I had took bleach to it myself. Very fake looking and I have medium blond hair to begin with. I almost cried, but I paid, tipped and left. I was so embarrassed leaving too. I cried in the car because it isn't like we are super wealthy. I don't get to do things like that very often and it had been a long time. I'm a stay at home mom. I had already been gone for 3 hours, so I didn't stay to get it fixed. I ended up coming back the next day. I complained and they said they would fix it for free but I already had an appointment with a level 4 stylist at another salon. That cost me 170 dollars!!!!!!!! Yikes right? I wasn't even happy with what she did. She actually made my hair look very similar to what it looked like before I did anything. So funny really but not her fault, she didn't know what I looked like before. It was a nightmare.
Maybe I'll try again soon. I have a free card for whatever I want done at that salon by the manager. I'm thinking of using it soon and praying all goes well. That stylist was so awful to me. I really felt horrible the whole time and bit back tears.

Jenna, I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience, especially over something that's supposed to make you feel better. I've had so many bad haircuts in the past, I too have naturally curly/frizzy hair. I grew up in Miami which only made things worse. I have since become addicted to my ceramic flat iron. Finally, no more frizz and it last through the worst humidity. I also love the frizz-ease line. I think I went about
8 years without going to a salon after a bad experience, I was cutting the front myself and asking DH to cut the back. After a while it really looked awful. What a difference last weekend made. I love my new haircut more everyday. I hope you find a place that can make you feel like queen for a day. Lord knows we need it and deserve it! Take Care and God Bless.
