Just wondering what types of rashes you all get. I think we get different types in different places.

I get the classic malar (butterfly) rash; I also get SCLE rashes on my neck, chest, and arms; just recently I was diagnosed with localized scleroderma also (morphea plaques) which is thickening of the skin, I have two of those - one on my back and one on my stomach.

I usually get a sunburn like appearance on my chest and cheeks. That's the nearest I get to a butterfly rash - it just looks like I've been out in the sun too long (even though I just don't go out in the sun).

I have had on at least 5 occasions had a rash similar to shingles (but there has been no virus in my blood or swabs) - once on my chest, once on my shoulder, once the entire length of my left leg and a couple of other random patches. I also get hives - about 10 years ago I used to get chronic hives, including one time I had a breakout so bad that my entire trunk looked like one giant hive. It was awful. I also get random lesions that look a bit like hives, but they're harder and a solid build up of skin tissue - I usually get a couple at a time, usually on my chest or neck, but I have had them on my trunk and back too.

I do not have a dx of Lupus. I am however waiting for a Rheumotolgist appointment. I do have something. Still in limbo though. But my rash is usually on my face and looks more like a sunburn. I get when I'm really stressed out or lack of sleep or been outside too long. I also get rashes on my upper arms. They are usually small red bumps in one or two areas, the last time I had this it swelled up and was hot. Sometimes I have patchy areas of white rough skin. I also get rashes on my elbows. Anyway, here is a picture of what my rash looks like. It's a terrible picture. I don't look this bad all the time, I swear. lol I was having a very bad "flare" or whatever it was that week/day.

@debbie that's what my cheeks look like, like I'm sunburned. Hope you get some answers soon.

I have an awful rash on my thighs, arms, chest, and legs. They think it's vasculitis, but going to the rheumy today to see. It itches like crazy, and it looks awful. I have a friend with lupus that said she had hives for 2 years.

I was diagnosed with vasculitus a few years ago - they did a biopsy on the rash that confirmed. My rash
was not as bad as yours but it will be good for you to know one way or the other what it is. My rash was
hive-like and generally disappeared after a day or two. So I can relate - I hope they can help you
with the itching.
