Hello all!! I'm so sorry I haven't been online much. I'll be peeking in to help watch for spammers and such . . . but I won't be posting much. I've been really busy (and feeling very well!!) and have grand-doggers coming for a week (two Westies to join my two Westies . . . totaling FOUR Westies!!) AND . . . last minute, I'll have two of my grands for a couple of days along with a couple of their little friends (to give the Mom's a short break). I hope each of you will enjoy a wonderful break from the pain and fatigue too!! I had, for a while, decided not to hope for better quality of life . . . because it was easier to just accept the way things were . . . but I am blessed to be feeling so well. I still follow the work/rest pacing technique and am super careful of the sun and careful not to overdo . . . . I want this to last as long as possible!! Forever! Blessings!

I'm also sorry I haven't been around. Life is busy, which I know you all can understand!

Rosie, you sound very busy and happy! I'll post and check in on things every day. When I have more time (July), I can be here more often for sure.

Hi Rosie -

It's great to hear you are feeling so well and enjoying summer!  I can't help but ask about your Westie's since meeting one the other night -I've decided that breed might just be my next puppy.  We have a very elderly pet right now - and I won't do anything until she has passed on - but I've decided I want a smaller dog next time and the Westie I met the other night on a walk was just delightful.  My DH is worried they bark too much, and, being Terriers, will be feisty.  You sound like a Westie veteran, any advice or wisdom or opinion you care to pass along?

Hey Lucy . . . send me an email and we can chat about it!! I had four litters of pups (momma is retired now) and can give you some helpful info. The barking is always a concern with terriers . . . but as with most everything, is a matter of proper socializing, training, and a few little tricks. Mine will bark at dogs walking by . . but if I give a short little "hey!" they come running (treat time!!) . . . so they have come to view dogs walking by as a very positive thing!! Taaa daaaaaa!! Lots of Westie lovers end up with two because they are so much fun!! Blessings!

Congrats Rosie on the pups and feeling better! I thought of you today, my son and I ate out at European Cafe in Jacksonville, and they have all this candy from other countries and snce we can't go to Europe, we got a basket of marzipan fruit from Germany, and real Turkish Delight. I didn't know that Turkish delight is Rose flavored jelly covered in dark chocolate. It sound gross, esp since IM" not so fond of jelly filled chocolates, but it is deliciousand really different tasting. The mixof the rose flavor and chocolate was terrific, really different and complex. I thought of you when the rose taste hit me. I didn't eat ta much due to diabetes, just a taste. But it was worth it. Hope you keep going strong. It was so nice to have sucha pleasant lunch with my son. These are the good times!

Rosie, I too haven't been on much lately with all that is happening. It is nice to hear some positive news and I am so glad you feel well. I will be posting an update after Monday.

Good for your, Rosie. It sound like you've found the secret to a happy life with lupus.

I have to tell you a sweet grandkids story. Monday I was sick in bed with bronchitis, fever, and another stomach bacteria and the girls arrived at 6:30 am. They always go to bed when they arrive and we get up at the same time. I slept in and when they came in to see me, I told them that I wasn't feeling well, so instead of "camp" what did they think about watching TV all day. I thought they would be disappointed, but they both just beamed. Since we don't watch tv while they're here, it's a real treat. The 10 year old brought me some toast for breakfast and the 8 year old (with a little help from the housekeeper) made me some mac & cheese for lunch.

They adore being read to, so on the days when I'm flaring, we stretch out on the sofa and I read to them for hours. I was so worried about keeping them this summer, but we've figured out some good adjustments.

They love to swim, but you know I won't get out there with them, so on Thursdays my daughter brings over the 3 that she nannys for and she swims with them. I fix lunch for everyone so it works out well.

I didn't mean to get off topic here, but you and I have so much in common. Are you knitting?

Glad you're feeling so much better and having a good summer.

Hey Marji . . . LOL that was some great 'unearned' credit!! I've heard of a couple different ways to make turkish delight and it sounds like totally different candies. Someone made some and brought it to church one time. . . but I only remember it being sweet. Glad you had such a memorable lunch with your son. Its so nice to be able to spend time with them!! Redrose . . . thanks . . . I hope you get to feeling better too. You've had a really rough time of it. Patti . . . Life is sometimes what we make of it! thanks for sharing about your precious grands! Mine are 12 years, 9 years and 8 mos. The older two are just such a blessings and I call the baby "my medicine" . . . just seeing them makes me feel great! Thanks for sharing your coping style . . . sounds like a great combination of solutions!! I'm addicted to Ravelry! I'm now making a lace shawl. I'm using the Frost Flowers and Leaves pattern (when shopping at the Library, LOL). . . . and some cone thread. It's actually coming along beautifully . . . but what concentration it requires! I'm using it to improve my brain. I'm now on round 63 with 400 stitches per round Aghhhhh!!! It's not even half done. Thank you, thanks you, thankyou!!! for sending me the link!
