Hi all, I have been having a real tough time of it lately with severe joint pain but I have a new symptom that I have never had before,

I am getting this burning pain in my right front thigh and when I say burning I mean I am shocked not to see flames when I look down! it happens when I walk more than a few feet and it also wakes me up at night I am having to sleep in my recliner cuz the only thing that helps in the night is putting my foot flat on the footrest and keeping it bent that way all night and for walking I just have to get off it so I am wheelchairing it for shopping and stuff it has been going on for about a week or so just hoping it would go away,I have cytoxan tomorow I can ask about it but as you know sometimes there is not a answer for these wierd things if anyone has had this please let me know what in the world is going on! thanks so much.   nona

Hi Nona,

I have had burning pain in my right thigh but the burning sensation went down to my
toes. It turned out to be sciatica caused by inflamation. The sciatic nerve is as thick
as your thumb and when there is pressure on it there is trouble. Get it checked out.

I ended up with a dropped foot and needed back surgery due to degenerative disc
disease. A bad disc was causing the pressure. I don't want to scare you, not all sciatica
is that severe. It may not be sciatica at all. I do have problems from time to time with
sciatica and then I just rest, take Mobic and muscle relaxers.

Hope you get some answers and relief.

Hi, thanks Robin I went to rhumey today told him about it, I had a bone scan last time I was there and it showed that I have pretty bad osteoporsis so...he said it could be a fracture in my spine or the dreaded sciatica he wanted to do a mri today but i had already been sitting there for hours doing my cytoxan treatment and i was just hurting to much to lay on that hard mri bed for a hour so whe have it sched for the 11th im supposed to stay in a wheelchair until we find out but that is so hard my house is pretty small, but I will do the chair when i go out thanks so much for sharing your story with me I really appreciate it cuz I really had never had that pain before it was kinda scary!

Have you been checked for vasculistis? I am wondering about your Autoimmune Hepatitis - my fiance has Hep. and he has a vascular disease due to it. The first symptom was extreme burning sensation in his legs...sounded like what you explained. Also though, I have peripheral Neuropahty, and nerve and brain involvement. My Neuropahty began with burning sensations in my legs and feet.

Hi Nona,

Hope you are getting some relief from the pain. The MRI will confirm whether it is
sciatica caused by a disc problem. I know that pain can be excruciating. Sleeping can
be difficult. If you sleep on your back place a pillow under your knees. If you sleep on
your side place a pillow in between your knees. This will alleviate stress on your spine.

I also have osteoporosis. When we have multiple health issues, it sure can be
frustrating to know what is going on.
