I went to my first rheumatologist appointment today and it was SO relieving.
He was very nice and informative and put up with all of my questions. If you don't remember my last post, my doctor diagnosed me with lupus at the beginning of July and referred me to a rheumatologist to take over my treatment. After seeing him today, he's almost positive that it is lupus. He said that three of the blood tests that detect lupus came back positive last month, but he decided to take more blood today just to be on the safe side. i also have to do a 24 hour urine test because of my abnormal protein levels.
I did find out today that i don't have carpal tunnel, just inflamed joints in my wrists. Apparently, my knees and fingers are also inflamed, but they don't cause me any pain.
My next appointment is on September 1st. If the blood tests come back positive again, he'll start me on medications.

Hi Brandi,

It sounds like you have a good rheumy and I am happy for you. So many of them are not knowledgeable enough about lupus or ignore their patients concerns.

I read your first post and wanted to tell you I also deal with anorexia. It is awful and not easy to overcome. I was not anorexic when my lupus was discovered; I had protein in my urine also and my kidney biopsy showed lupus. I was shocked because I really didn't feel sick.

Let us know how you make out with your 24 hour urine and try to take care of yourself. I am much older than you but I do undertand what you are dealing with. Take care and enjoy college!
