I've mentioned that I have a stress fracture in my right foot. It's my third one in a few years. Second since I started taking prednisone. My bone density scan last week showed that I have osteopenia (which I knew) and my hips and spine have seen no change since my last scan three years ago. However, there's significant decrease in bone mineral mass in my left arm. I suppose that is because I don't use my left arm as much as my right, since I'm right handed.
I obviously need to do more weight training. I'm taking calcium with vit d every day, and actonel once a week. I eat a lot of dairy (am addicted to cheese). Don't know what else to do. I'm supposed to stay off my foot for the next month but after that I can get back to walking and riding my stationary recumbent bike.
What else do I need to be doing? This is a little disconcerting, to say the least.
