i'm taking plaquenil and i know it's a side effect, but i used to have a full, thick head of hair and now it's thin and scraggly-looking. i have a small patch underneath where there is no hair at all. will this keep happening until i lose all of my hair? someone please tell me that's not the case. is there something i can take or put on my scalp to make it stop happening? it's worst after i take a shower... and hair is all over everything, it's gross.

I was told by my doc that you can loose hair just by begin sick.
I am not taking any meds that make me loose my hair but it is falling out anyway.

about
6 weeks or so. i noticed hair falling out before i started taking it, but it's gotten a lot worse in the last 2-3 weeks. my scalp is also really tender. feels like i had it in a really tight hairstyle for a long time and just took it out? so weird.

my hair falls out pretty profusely when i start to flare, with or without meds . . . the only thing that stops my hair from falling out is rest and lots of it! my bathroom floor, sinks and shower usually look like a hair bomb exploded in them after i am done showering and drying my hair . . . it is really gross . . . we just keep a steady stock of draino on hand and the vacuum handy. it usually stops falling out when i cut back on my stress/commitments and get the rest i so desperately need.

give it some time it will stop. Stress plays a huge factor as hard as it is try and stop stressing funny that I should say that I hear it all the time lol. I know the feeling of a tender scalp,I washed my hair the other day and it was very sore so I got out the hooded dryer and hot oil treatment wrapped my hair in a towel I microwaver for 15 secs and sat under the dryer for 30 mins. not only did it help soften my dry hair but the heat from the dryer relaxed my stiff neck and I read tons of The Shack. I know I kinda strayed a little lol,but try and be as stress free as possible, rest and drink lots of water, let your hair rest no hand dryer or flat irons things that get hot are not good for out hair (lupies). I am 33 and I love my hair so I know how you feel about
losing it.
