Swine Flu Vaccine..

So there offering the H1N1 shot at my rhumeys office, and I got it two days ago. Has anyone else got their shot? Are you even worried about it? After the shot though I was not able to sleep. I went 22 hours without sleep yesterday, and today I only got 4 hours of sleep. I'm assuming that this is from the vaccine but not sure. I also have a cold, which I've had for awhile. Just want to see what everyone thinks, and if you too got the shot.

Hi Bigsanfer - that's interesting about the sleep problem following your vaccine.  I don't know anyone else who has gotten it yet and I don't know that I will when it becomes available here, but I'm not in the high risk age range.  Can't seem to "get off the fence" and make a decision.  I hope you are over your cold and sleeping well now - keep us posted.  I hope others will post their experience with the vaccine when/if they get it.

I never heard of the sleep problem. There is no sign of even being able to get the shot around here. I am supposed to get it but I will pass up for any one else that needs it more. Thank goodness it hasn't been worse then it already is.

I know 1 person who got the vaccine.  Half of her face became swollen overnight and it looked like she had dental work done and then someone popped her in the eye.  She's pregnant so she didn't take anything for the reaction.  I one the other hand am not able to get the vaccine because I'm off my metho and our supply is limited to drs, and public service providers (apparently firefighter/first responders don't qualify) and pregnant women.  I hope you get some sleep soon.  I just don't know what to think about this vaccine.

I will not get the vaccine as the last time I got one I was sick for a month [think it aggrevated the Lupus.  I have systemic with loss of one kidney, sever chirossis,cardiac and lung involvement plus nose sores and RA so I will pass on it luckily for me I am retired so I can avoid crowds and [sadly] small children and close contact with people.  My computer is my window to the world. I would not be a high risk due to my age but [here comes the irony of it all] due to the medications I take my immune system is compromised.  So SI put it all , most, in GODs' hands and live like it all depends on me.  Blessings to all.

Thanks for all your replies. I am finally able to sleep, and hopefully that will be the only side effect. I'm still nervous about getting the swine flu even with the shot.. 7 people in one of my classes were absent yesterday and from swine flu. Hope all is well with everyone!

I got the seasonal flu, pneumonia, and H1N1 vaccine in the last 3 weeks.  I did have a bad reaction to the H1N1.  I was really nauseated, bad headache, and achy all over for about 36 hours.  My arm where the injection went in was terribly sore for 3 days!! Brutal!

 

I'm still glad I got it though.  Better to be safe than sorry.

I've been procrastinating on whether to get the H1N1 vaccine as well and the normal flu vaccine. I work in a hospital and probably need too. After reading all your stories I'm not sure.

Hi all,

I got both the H1N1 and pneumonia shot on the same day. I don't have a spleen and the elementary school where I teach was infested with swine flu. I am considered high risk due to no spleen so I didn't have a choice. I did not have any reaction at all. My husband, who is also high risk, and my two children had the H1N1 shot too and they did not have any side effects either. My arm that I got the pneumonia shot in was very sore for about three days but I always react like that to it. Thank goodness I only need the pneumonia shot once every 5 years. I guess like everything else it depends on the individual as to whether on not you have a reaction to shots. Hope this helps.
