Sore Vein

I took some blood tests 2 days ago and it didn't hurt at all when the nurse was taking blood... in fact, it was the least painful blood taking experience I had ever had. Now, two days later, I have never experienced this much pain in my vein. The vein he used is at the surface of my skin, dark blue green and VERY sore, especially to the touch. What the heck does that mean? I have had blood taken out a million times but nothing like this! :S

Hi S, well I'm not a doctor but I have had things like that happen to me as well. You might try using an ice pack on it off and on for a day and see if that helps. It's possible that it was close to a nerve and has caused some swelling which caused the nerve to be irritated. Of course if it gets worse you need to at least call your doctor. and also watch for red streaks in that area which could indicate some type of infection.
