Well tonight I am taking my first dose of Cyclosporine. its 100mg every 12 hrs.. We have stopped the Cytoxan treatments because I don't seem to be getting any benefits from it after doing them for 8 months. So, I have tried to look up Cyclosporine in the HW search and have not been able to find anything. Maybe because not very many people are on it??
Well if you have taken it, what did you experience? Out of Cellcept, Cytoxan, Imuran, and plaquenil, this is the one I am most scared about
. I will be getting blood work done every 2 weeks for several months to make sure the drug doesnt cause Kindey Failure (other than lupus) because that is a big risk or Liver failure. And the side effects that are common include tremors, increased hair growth, swollen and painful gums and low blood counts, high BP are JUST a few to mention. It seems to be the most potent one out of the ones I have taken...So any experience would be nice if there are any!!! i need something to calm my nerves. LOL

Hi AMy! Wow, you're on to a new med. I don't know anything about
this med. I'll be praying for you! I hope it turns out to be the miracle pill you need! Keep us posted and I hope there are others who can give you some info!

I took cyclosporine for about
five years without any immediate complications. I have auto immune hemalytic anemia though, not lupus. At the time, I was just grateful to find something that would work. I had to stop taking it though because it eventually stopped working. Good luck, sounds like you're on top of things.

Hey Carol! thanks for checking on me. I actually haven't been doing too good but I think things are starting to change for the better.his med has really kicked my tush this time. It is so weird. about
15 minutes after I started taking it my extremties would turn really red and burn almost as if I was steping or leaning on a hot stove. that would last about
2 hours and my eyes would swell up for about
2 hours. Then I get really this feeling almost like on the verge of anxiety/panic attack. But today was the first day it last for a about
45 minutes, so I am hoping its a sign I am adjusting to it. It has shot up my bp but other than that I think I will be ok. I get blood work done Thursday morning to make sure my liver and kidneys are ok and to make sure I don't have a toxic amount of the medicine in my body and see my doc on Friday!!!
