Again with my LTD trying to cancel benefits

Anyone else having (or ever had) this problem? Seems they come in every couple of years and see if they can scare me away or something...instead of paying...sigh.

You'd think they'd figure out that additional stress from them only makes me sicker and they'll never get rid of me that way.

Just when I was in the middle of qualifying for a mortgage so I could move to a calmer living situation. Sometimes I think it'd be easier ... well, I don't need to think that out loud.

Would love hearing from anyone who has a private disability insurance claim that gets investigated regularly.

(((Lynnwood))) I'm sorry they're giving you poo again. I have one thought that may help. When I was trying to get my house refinanced all they wanted regarding income was the initial notice of award letters. I suppose the loan officers might call your company in addition to the letter, but I certainly didn't get that impression. Try not to worry Sweetie. You know you fully qualify for your LTD. That's good news, Donna. I got the impression from my mortgage guy that they wanted something from the LTD saying they were going to pay me for the next 3 years.

Do you have to fill in reports between the 2 yr checkups, Babs? I have to fill in a form every month, and my drs every 3 months, then they still come along randomly to try to scare me off.

Last time they did this they quit paying for 8 months & I had to get an attorney to get my back pay reinstated. In doing so, we requested my file and found that they stalk me every year to see where I go & what I do. It all seems very strange since there is nothing to suggest I'm doing anything wrong.

You'd think it'd be enough just to be sick without the world complicating everything. All I want to do is SLEEP.

Fairly self-explanatory, to tell the truth. The hire someone to sit by your house and see what you do, where you go, follow and see what's going on. They look at your websites...generally see if you are as sick as you've reported yourself to be, or if you're doing business as usual. Data in the file copy we got indicated they do enough surveillance to try things like say you are still working since I hadn't taken down my business website, that sort of thing. They didn't really directly use anything they found to try anything with me, but I'm glad I wasn't trying to fake or lie about things. The file certainly confirmed that they do check up on your activities.

Isn't that fun?! We get to feel like criminals as well as feel sick...

They came after me a few times while on LTD, and at the 9 month mark, they cut me off.
I contacted a lawyer who said they are like snakes and will do everything in their power to make your life hell such as; having me followed, asking for paper work on top of paper work. etc

I decided I could not live like that.So I went back to work fulll time. It sucked at first but my company has been understanding of my sick days.

I would rather take welfare than be a slave to these insurance co's anymore.

The stress of them harassing me was worse than just going back to work.

Also thanks for using the word "harassed", Babs -- that's what I was thinking but then I start thinking that somehow they are right and I don't deserve anything and I should somehow manage to grit my teeth and get back to work...but I've tried and that just isn't feasible.

Even if Lupus doesn't do physical harm to one's brain, the effects of dealing with all these side issues certainly warps our thinking, doesn't it?!

I've never applied for disability, but I'm shocked at the problems you that have needed it have! Over the years I've seen people who have it but don't really need it, and then someone like you comes along and they treat you like you're some evil manipulative woman. As well as you write, that would be a good article to write and send in to the newspaper or a magazine. I hope that somehow you can put an end to this and get your mortgage.

I've been encouraged to write this and that before, and have a few times. But it's like sending time & energy into a black hole, I've never gotten so much as an "we received..." so I'm not all that interested in writing anything. Sad, isn't it? Can't even get angry to protect myself, have to let you guys get mad on my behalf!

I hope to have a long conversation with my attorney in the next few months. If we get them (LTD) to pull back this time, I'd like to pursue more aggressively and see if we can't get rid of the constant "this form, that form" that seems to go on endlessly. I'll keep you posted, but nothing will change for at least another month.
