Sick of lupus...today

Hi Everyone. Last Wednesday I tripped over my front door step and fell. Cut my knee, hurt all over, but okay. I often use my hands and knees to get up from the floor or tub. Last night I was trying to get out of the tub without using my knee and I fell in the tub. I had a headache for a while, but otherwise the usual hurt all over. I love my baths with epsom salts, but I'll have to switch to showering in my tub chair. At least it's only until my knee heals.

I'm seeing a doc Friday re gastric by-pass surgery. Blue cross will cover almost all the surgery cause I'm morbidly obese and have high blood pressure, diabetes, and sleep apnea. I really hope that losing half my body weight will restore my sense of balance. I'm so friggin sick of falling. The Butterflake Pillsbury dough boy doesn't bounce like she use to. Love, Butterflake

LOL!!! omg, you gave me such a good and much needed laugh today! I love your Pillsbury Dough girl comment :)!

Sorry about your falls. I hope you can get back to your epson salt baths soon! I know I rely on those several times a week and would be devestated if I couldnt do that. Let us know what the doc says on Friday. I have a friend who went through it and she looks so good and feels so much better just having all the extra weight off!!! Good Luck Donna! I'm sick of it too, if that's what they decide I have. It may just be a really, really severe case of Sjogren's Syndrome. Whatever... I'm tired of it too.

Amy, thanks for the encouragement! I just can't stop eating when I should and it's so bad for my health.

Always, your plan to register abuse sounds good to me! I'm sorry that you fall too. It's amazing how painful falls are. BTW, I have 60 pounds on you. I'm 5 ft tall, wear a 50 DD bra and I have quite the pred face.  My upper arms are huge and often when I look in the mirror I'm reminded of a large toad. At least my warts are only on my hands.

So Jennifer, are your mucus membranes so dry they cause your legs to stick together and falls result? That's some serious Sjogrens. I really am sorry that you fall too. Well, I gotta go. Love, Butterflake

The other night DH and I had to stop right at the begining of you know what, couldn't even get started with lots and lots of KY. I hurt sooooo bad, never had pain like that before. I got those KY Liquibeads, and in a couple of days everything was perfect. I mean, better then it's been in years. Maybe the Sjogren's been affecting me more then I realized. But those things are great. If anyone has miraines, and no problems with Glaucoma and such, I've been taking Topamax for about 3 months now. I've lost 15 lbs and I've only had 3 headaches in two months. I was having them about 2-4 times a week. But I'm back on a 60mg pred taper, so I'm sure the weight will come back on for a while. I'm flaring from a 15 min sun chat in a parking lot. Dummy me.

I had my first visit with the gastric by-pass surgeon today.(My psychiatrist recommended him.) He said I should have few problems with the surgery. I need to get approval from my docs that all my 15 meds can either be crushed or in liquid form for post-op. So now there's lots of paper work to do and I need appts with my primary care, a pulmonologist, and a dietician. I'm actually getting excited.

Speaking of excited, I'll have to try the KY Liquibeads Jennifer. I was also having pain so my gyn taught me how to relax my butt and she recommended Astroglide lubricant. Thanks for all the info Jennifer and Always! Love, Butterflake

Good luck to you butterflake with the gastric by pass. I know a lady who had one recently b/c she kept gaining weight, had diabetes, was on insulin, high BP meds. Within 24 hours of her surgery she was off insulin and all diabetes meds. The only thing sh has to take now is nexium.

Did they say anything about the by pass and your colitis? I have colitis too. Is yours real bad? Have they checked you for crohn's and ulcerative colitis to be sure you don't have them? My crohn's IBD test for crohn's is positive but biopsies negative. These are strange diseases.

Hi Jean. I asked about my colitis during my first gastric by-pass seminar and the doc said it shouldn't be a problem. She said it may even help my colitis long term cause the amount of food I can stuff in my face will be greatly reduced :) Love, Butterflake
