Dear Jdrea,
Just wondering where you live? Did the sores start out by itching first? This summer my husband started with something he thought was just allergies. Skin itching in neck back and along the waistline and parts of legs. He went to the doctor and they just thought he was having an allergic reaction to something, not sure, put him on a predpack and gave him some ointment. Well, 3 days later the areas started to inflame and blister. Come to find out he was infected with redbugs or what they call chiggers. They are invisible and burrow into the skin and then start a major infection under the skin and then become sores. The doctor told him that he was starting to see several cases of it coming in this year. He gave him antibiotics, a cream to put on the body just one day and also an anti-anxiety med to calm the nerves because I guess they get overstimulated during this process. I ended up with 2 areas on my back doing the same thing, but I already had steroids and just made sure I cleaned the areas everyday and used an antibiotic cream that helps with staph infections. It took awhile, but they eventually dried up an healed. It should not be ignored, because it was a major staph infection by the time they figured it out. Hope this helps in any way.
