Does anyone know what this is for?  It's in my labwork and was wondering what function it has in the body?

Hi Sheba. Alk phos is most commonly used as a liver function test. Since some of our meds can cause liver damage that's what it's usually used to monitor. You'll see it as ALP too along with AST, ALT, and Bilirubin.

It can also be used for bone disorders. Love, Butterflake

Thanks for responding back. I have one more question. September of last year it was 98. The range shows 50-136. 7 months later in April this year it was 101. Which wasn't much of jump. But when I just had it done again last month why would it jump up 131? I don't understand that. I'm not any meds that cause anything.

Liver function tests (like all lab tests) will always flucuate depending on lots of factors such as eating, drinking, exercise, illness etc. All of your results were in expected range so not to worry. Docs also check if the other liver function tests are in expected range and even if one is slightly elevated there's no concern.  Love, Butterflake BS Medical Technology (ASCP)
