Where is your pain/stiffness/inflammation?

I've noticed that my joint & muscle pain is almost exclusively on my right side. Even inflammations are more often on the right -- my right eye is dryer and blurrier than the left. Headaches & sweating are on both sides....

Do most of you have symptoms evenly or mostly on one side?


Does anyone know if a rheumy is trained to identify MS? Were any of you evaluated specifically for MS?

Well i dont know if my rheumy is trained to the symptoms of MS but before i was diagnosed with lupus, he did ask me questions like:

Is the pain mostly or always on one side?
Does one side hurt more than the other?
Would i say the pain is greater or lesser on one side?
ETC

So that could have been a prelude to him doing tests etc or not for MS

And i have never thought about which side it more often affected. Thanks for the food for thought.

To me it seems the left side is more often the painful side which is werird because i'm right handed but for sum reason i do most other stuff (except write) with my left hand eg. eat, wash dishes, play sports (used to) etc. I can write with my left hand too but not as fast.. I'm weird i guess..lol..

Mine is on both sides unless if i overdid something on one side. The pain is just as bad on both sides but my rhuemy said sometimes my swelling is a little more on my right side but probably because I favor my right side more than my left.

Most of my pain is left side, hip..wrist etc. The right hurts but never as bad.

Mostly my right side. From my shoulder down to my pelvic area front and back but almost always on the right side the most. I have some on the left but may a 3 on the left and a 7 on the right. Even my right ankle is weaker but when I retain fluids it all starts on the left side. Always. Never  been evaluated for MS but my first cousin has it really bad she has to crawl to the bathroom and stuff. she wants to so she feels some independence. That's the way she gets around and her hands are twisted around backwards. anyway I don't know but I would think that a rheumy would know about MS.

Most of my pain is on both sides. It's often all over (fibro) or joints on both sides at different times (lupus).  I think you should bring up your MS concerns with your rheumy. He will probably refer you to a neurologist just to be sure. Mine has refered me to a neurologist on a couple of occasions. Mostly for severe brain fog and CNS issues. Last year I had brain MRI, EEG, nerve conduction studies and extensive cognitive testing. No signs of MS.

Prior to my lupus diagnosis I would get these spells (flares) where my legs buckled and I was in intense pain. I saw a neurologist who tested me for MS with brain, neck MRIs and a spinal tap. All was normal.

I think you should get checked for MS, just to be safe and ease your concerns. Love Ya, Donna

definitely left! always worst and noticeably visible.
