Hello guys I am 19. I was told in December I tested positive for lupus. The bloodwork was done by my neurologist and he is the one that told me about this but he said that the number wasn't high enough to be causing me any of the issues I'm having which are alot of pain especially joint and muscles and fatigue. They also found inflammation and I was low on vitamin D so now I am takin 1000 units of vitamin D3 a day (if I remember). They also found high platelets and with all the blood work they've done they said I need a bone marrow biopsy which is really scaring me. My aunt is a nurse and she told me certain conditions can cause a false positive for lupus is this true or do I have lupus? Also if any of you have gotten a bone marrow biopsy I would like to know your experience.

Lupus is a hard one to dx I would see a rheumatologist. I haven't had a bone marrow biopsy. So they took blood, and now want a bone marrow biopsy? I am thinking that they want to rule out other ideas of what it could be?

I agree.  If you are tested lupus positive, you need to see a rhumty.

My mother had to have a marrow biopsy. They were able to numb her flesh but couldn't numb the bone which is full of nerves unfortunately.
They use a small boring needle to penatrate the bone and then insert a larger needle to make a bigger hole to get a bone sample. It is painful but doesn't take too long.

Yea I am going to see a rheumatologist soon now that I got the referral from my primary. And they want a bone marrow biopsy to find out what is causing the high platelets, they've done a complete blood count, ferritin test, and a spleen ultrasound everything came back normal so they told me that's what I need to do next.
