Hello all this is Barb's daughter posting today.
My mom asked me to post since she is not able to and most likely will not be for awhile.
Here's what happened:
Saturday evening she came home from her father's funeral and seemed okay just a little tired. We went to a friends graduation party and when we came home she went to bed. The following morning (Sunday) I woke up and she was making a funny semi-snoring sound. I went into look at her and it look like she couldnt snore properly because her lips were glued together. I got my father and he opened her lips and we saw that she had foam in her mouth. He tried to wake her up, shook her, lifted her arms up and down among other things to wake her up but she wouldnt wake up. We called 911 and they came and took her to a hospital nearby.
When my dad and I arrived she had been placed in the ICU and was on a ventalator with a stomach pump. Apparently while in the ambulence she tried to throw up but the vomit filled her lungs and she almost died. The doctors told us had I found her 15 minutes later she would have been dead. Once in the ICU she was stabilized but was still in danger. She had a blood infection and her entire right lung has pneumonia. For all of Sunday, Monday, and part of Tuesday she was incubated because of the ventalator. Yesterday (Tuesday) she was able to speak and be awake for the first time. She is on many medications currently to help her reach a state where she can be moved from the ICU and may be stable enough for transportation to our regular hospital.
She does not have her phone with her or a computer so she will not be able to communicate with anyone until she is either at home or in a regular ward.
